Seville is a very easy city to visit with children. It’s flat, you can do almost everything on foot, there are huge parks and Sevillians take their children everywhere, out to dinner included. The hardest parts are the summer heat and the timetable, so here are the plans that work best and how to fit them in.

€0

Alcázar and Cathedral up to age 13, with an adult

€3

River boat trip, ages 6 to 12

€13

Aquarium, ages 4 to 14

€0

Plaza de España and Parque de María Luisa

Plans that never fail

Boats at Plaza de España

Rowing along the canal under the tiled bridges. About €6 a boat for 35 minutes, up to 4 people

Parque de María Luisa

Shade, fountains, ducks and room to run, right next to Plaza de España

Seville Aquarium

On the Muelle de las Delicias, by the river. Free for under-4s

Casa de la Ciencia

Exhibitions and a planetarium in the Peru Pavilion. €3 a ticket, free up to age 3

Plaza de España is the star plan. The children look for their province on the tiled benches, cross the bridges and, if the weather is kind, you all go out in a boat. Right next door, the Parque de María Luisa is perfect for slowing down. There are lots of pigeons in the plaza de América, but don’t feed them: feeding animals in public spaces is banned in Seville.

The Seville Aquarium is a short walk away, by the river. It works very well at midday or on a rainy day. Tickets cost €18 for adults and €13 for ages 4 to 14, and there’s a €49 family pack online for two adults and two children.

Monuments without the boredom

Good news for the budget: the Real Alcázar and the Cathedral are free for children up to 13 who go with an adult. At the Alcázar you still need to get them their free ticket, so add them when you buy online.

Las Setas (Metropol Parasol) are a big hit too: you go up onto a wavy walkway above the rooftops. Children up to 5 go in free and there are family packs. It’s at its most impressive at sunset.

The river

The one-hour boat trip on the Guadalquivir leaves from the Torre del Oro pier every hour. It’s one of the best plans for fun per euro: €18 for adults, €3 for ages 6 to 12 and free up to 5. You go under the bridges, see Triana from the water and the children sit happily for an hour.

Isla Mágica

The theme park in La Cartuja is made for families, with rides for every age. It opens by season, roughly from April to early November: in 2026 it closes on 8 November, after its Halloween season. Children under 90 cm go in free, and buying online is quite a bit cheaper than at the ticket office. In summer Agua Mágica, its water park, is open too, with a separate ticket.

How to plan the day with children

  1. Morning: the important things
Monuments and walks first thing, when there are fewer people and it’s cooler.
  2. Midday: lunch and a rest
Eat around 14:00, as we do here, and go back to the flat. In summer, the middle of the day is spent indoors.
  3. Afternoon: park or river
María Luisa, Plaza de España or the boat, once the sun starts to drop.
  4. Evening: a terrace
In Seville children eat out with their parents until late, especially in spring and summer. Nobody will give you funny looks.
